AEROSMITH Guitarist Speaks Out On His Label's First Signing
September 5, 2002PORCH GHOULS, the first signing to AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry's new record company, Roman Records, will record their forthcoming album in the band's hometown of Memphis, according to Launch. Stuart Sikes, engineer of the WHITE STRIPES' White Blood Cells, has been enlisted for the project. Perry will likely be the executive producer, but the band is still looking for a producer.
Perry recently told Launch about the PORCH GHOULS' sound. "It's got a lot of roots to it. But again, it's like they took a lot of the old standard kind of things that we all heard and grew up listening to and morphed it into their own thing. And it's just like nothing I've ever heard before. And then when we talked about what we liked about music and I found out a little bit about their history and how much...all the dues that they've paid I figured they've got to be good live. They can't talk like that and not have the chops to stand in front of a crowd and not get 'em off."
